Shannon & Dominic’s Beautiful Outdoor Wedding at Yorkshire Wedding Barn

What an unforgettable day it was photographing Shannon and Dominic’s stunning wedding at the Yorkshire Wedding Barn! Tucked away in the picturesque North Yorkshire countryside near Richmond, this contemporary barn venue provided the perfect setting for a day filled with love, immense fun, and endless candid moments.

The weather was absolutely ideal for an outdoor celebration—gloriously warm, beautifully calm, and with soft, overcast light that is an absolute dream for a wedding photographer.

Getting Ready & A Special Father's Reveal

The morning began with a wonderful buzz of anticipation across the venue. Dominic, his groomsmen, and both dads made the most of the venue's plush, beautifully converted barns to get ready, sharing plenty of laughs before the ceremony. Meanwhile, Shannon and her bridal party prepared in a bright, stylish space bathed in incredible natural light, making it a joy to capture all those genuine, unposed morning details.

Before heading down the aisle, Shannon shared an incredibly emotional, private reveal with her dad. It was a beautiful, quiet moment amidst the morning excitement and gave us some of the most touching candid portraits of the entire day.

An Outdoor Ceremony & A Crazy Dog Ring Bearer!

Shannon and Dominic took full advantage of the calm weather by holding their ceremony outdoors at the venue's beautiful outdoor pavilion. The absolute highlight of the service had to be their little dog, who took on the vital role of ring bearer! Overjoyed by the occasion, their little pup let out a bit of that crazy energy, running around with pure excitement during the vows. It had everyone laughing and added a brilliantly unique, relaxed energy to the ceremony.

After the Ceremony: Celebrations, Portraits & Walkies!

Once the final paperwork was signed, the new Mr and Mrs made their way into a sea of congratulations on the terrace. The extensive grounds surrounding the barns offer a stunning variety of backdrops for group photos and relaxed bridal portraits.

We made sure to step away for some natural, candid couple portraits, taking their excited little dog along for a stroll.

The Wedding Breakfast & Entertaining Speeches

The celebrations then moved inside the spectacular Lake Barn for the wedding breakfast. The rustic timber beams and grand windows created a magnificent atmosphere for the feast. The energy in the room was fantastic, peaking during a series of incredibly entertaining, heartfelt, and witty speeches that left the guests in stitches and provided endless brilliant expressions to document around the tables.

Evening Celebrations: First Dances & Ice Cream Treats

As night fell, the party transitioned into the Garden Barn to kick off the evening celebrations. Shannon and Dominic took to the floor for a beautiful first dance, followed by a moving father-daughter dance that brought a few tears to the room.

As a brilliant surprise for their guests, delicious ice cream was served, keeping everyone refreshed and smiling. It wasn't long before the dance floor filled up completely, capping off a truly spectacular North Yorkshire wedding.

A Personal Note from Tim: My Roots in Gilling West

Returning to Gilling West to photograph weddings at the Yorkshire Wedding Barn always feels like a bit of a homecoming for me. Some of my family were from the village, and I spent many happy days here as a child visiting relatives. I have fond memories of playing down by the stream, and visiting my Uncle Fred and Aunt Elizabeth at their lovely cottage garden where they grew rows of fresh vegetables, before warming up by their roaring open fire.
My family ties to the village actually go back generations—a long time ago, one of my ancestors was the horse and carriage driver for the local Gilling West vicar, which was a highly prestigious job at the time! It’s incredibly special to now be returning to the same beautiful village decades later, capturing new history and beautiful memories for couples starting their own journeys together.
