Jessica & Mihai’s Glorious May Wedding at St Peter’s Church & Gisborough Hall

What a spectacular day it was documenting Jessica and Mihai’s beautiful May wedding! The entire day was blessed with magnificent spring sunshine, creating a vibrant, joyful atmosphere from start to finish. From a wonderfully warm church service in Wolviston to a high-energy evening reception at Guisborough, it was an absolute pleasure to capture so many natural, candid moments for such a lovely couple.

Morning Prep in Wolviston

The day began in Wolviston at Jessica's parents' home, where there was a wonderful buzz of morning excitement. Surrounded by her lovely family and bridesmaids, Jessica prepared for the day ahead in a house filled with laughter and anticipation. Capturing those quiet, genuine moments between close family members before the dress goes on is always one of my favourite parts of a wedding morning.

Anticipation at the Church

Over at St Peter's Church in Wolviston, Mihai, his groomsmen, and the arriving guests were basking in the brilliant May sunshine. The atmosphere outside the church doors was wonderfully relaxed and full of high spirits. I made sure to blend into the crowd, capturing a wealth of natural, candid shots of friends greeting one another, buttonholes being pinned, and the groom's final moments of anticipation.

A Joyful Ceremony at St Peter's Church

The ceremony was conducted by the lovely, fun vicar, Mahala, who was a complete joy to chat and plan with leading up to the big day. Her warm personality set a wonderfully happy tone for the entire service. St Peter's Church is blessed with beautiful natural light, which allowed me to discreetly capture the couple’s emotional vows and the genuine smiles shared across the aisle during a truly happy, uplifting service.

Sunshine, Confetti & A Vintage Departure

Following the service, the new Mr and Mrs stepped out into the bright spring sunshine to a spectacular shower of confetti from their cheering guests. After capturing plenty of unposed, joyful reactions and a few elegant, formal family groups outside the church, Jessica and Mihai made a classic exit, waving to their guests as they swept away in a beautiful vintage wedding car.

Arrival at Gisborough Hall & Entertainment

The celebrations moved on to the magnificent Gisborough Hall, which is personally one of my absolute favourite North Yorkshire venues. As one of their recommended suppliers, I know the exceptional team here incredibly well; from the top down, the friendly staff genuinely care about providing flawless service.

As guests arrived on the sunny terrace, they were treated to a big group photograph in front of the grand hall before enjoying drinks on the lawn. Entertainment was provided by my good friend Ray of Rays Piano. Ray is a phenomenal pianist with the unbelievable ability to chat effortlessly with guests without ever missing a single note—it is always a brilliant highlight to see him at a wedding!

The Wedding Breakfast & Speeches

The party moved inside for a sumptuous wedding breakfast. The room was filled with incredible energy as the speeches kicked off. With the guests and the newlyweds thoroughly enjoying the heartfelt, witty toasts, the room was a goldmine for documentary photography. I focused on capturing the raw, unposed reactions—the big laughs, the tears, and the clapping hands around the tables.

A Ceilidh in the Madoc Suite

The evening celebrations kicked off in style inside the grand Madoc Suite with the traditional cutting of the cake and a romantic first dance. The energy then hit the roof as the evening's entertainment took over: a fantastic ceilidh led by the brilliant Ceilidh Knights, run by my good friend Gordon Callandar. A ceilidh is the ultimate way to get a dance floor completely packed, and it provided a spectacular, high-energy finale to a perfect sunny May wedding.
