Morning Prep in the Hackness Grange Getting Ready Room

The morning began with a wonderful atmosphere as Emma and her bridal party got ready in the venue's dedicated Getting Ready Room. It’s a dream space for a photographer—bathed in incredible natural light with massive windows overlooking the manicured lawns and stunning grounds. It provided the perfect, calm setting to capture those elegant, candid preparation details before the ceremony began.

An Outdoor Ceremony on the Island Pavilion

Emma and Daryl opted for an outdoor ceremony, taking full advantage of Hackness Grange's most iconic feature—The Pavilion on the Island. Accessed by a charming footbridge over the tranquil lake, saying "I do" surrounded by water and lush greenery made for an incredibly romantic setting. Watching their little boy and their two magnificent huskies happily taking in the lakeside scenery during the vows was an absolute joy to document.

Celebrations & Group Portraits in the Grounds

Following the beautiful ceremony, the new Mr and Mrs made their way back across the footbridge into a spectacular shower of confetti. Guests then gathered on the sprawling lawns to enjoy drinks in the North Yorkshire sunshine while the two huskies kept everyone entertained.

The extensive 17-acre grounds at Hackness Grange offer endless choice for wedding group photos. We utilized the stunning backdrop of the main house and lake for some relaxed, elegant family portraits before letting the guests mingle, laugh, and soak up the summer warmth.

Laughter, Entertaining Speeches & The Elizabeth Suite

Following the drinks reception on the sun-drenched lawns, the celebrations moved into the grand Elizabeth Suite for the wedding breakfast and evening party. The atmosphere all day was fantastic, with a wonderful group of guests who spent the entire afternoon laughing and joking. The energy peaked during the speeches, which were some of the most genuinely entertaining, witty, and hilarious I’ve photographed in a long time—providing endless fantastic reactions to capture around the room.

A Magical Golden Hour Portrait Session

Just as the evening party was getting into full swing, the sun dipped perfectly behind the tree line, creating a spectacular North Yorkshire golden hour. I managed to steal Emma and Daryl away from their guests for just ten minutes to explore the 17 acres of landscaped grounds.

The soft, warm evening light filtering by the lake was completely magical, allowing us to capture some quiet, intimate couple portraits to perfectly wrap up a phenomenal wedding day.

Evening Celebrations: Cake Cutting, Bouquet Toss & First Dance

As day turned to night, the energy inside The Elizabeth Suite shifted up a gear. The evening kicked off with the traditional cutting of the wedding cake, closely followed by a brilliant, high-energy bouquet toss that had the crowd cheering.

Emma and Daryl then took to the dance floor for a beautiful first dance under the romantic evening lights. It wasn't long before their guests rushed to join them, kicking off a packed dance floor and a brilliant night of partying to cap off an unforgettable lakeside wedding.
